зелёный - VFR (выше 900х8000);
голубой - MVFR (ниже 900х8000, но не ниже 300х5000);
красный - IFR (ниже 300х5000, но не ниже 150х2000);
пурпурный - LIFR (ниже 150х2000, но не ниже 90х800);
фиолетовый - VLIFR (ниже 90х800).
Для каждого облачного слоя указана (через дробную черту) его нижняя и верхняя граница (в метрах над средним уровнем рельефа местности).
Количество облаков в данном слое обозначается:
FEW - незначительная, 1-3 балла* (1-2 октанта);
SCT - рассеянная (разбросанная), 4-5 баллов* (3-4 октанта);
BKN - разорванная (значительная), 6-9 баллов* (5-7 октантов);
OVC - сплошная, 10 баллов* (8 октантов).
Для количества кучево-дождевых и мощных кучевых облаков используются термины:
ISOL - изолированная, 1-4 балла* (1-3 октанта);
OCNL - редкая, 5-7 баллов* (4-6 октантов);
FRQ - частая, 8-10 баллов* (6-8 октантов).
* 1 балл = 1/10 небосвода, 1 октант = 1/8 небосвода.
Формы облаков:
CI - перистая, CS - перисто-слоистая, AC - высоко-кучевая, AS - высоко-слоистая, SC - слоисто-кучевая, ST - слоистая,
NS - слоисто-дождевая, CU - кучевая, TCU - мощная кучевая, CB - кучево-дождевая.
